EDFI AgriFI targets three types of investees to contribute to the financial inclusion and improved livelihoods for smallholder farmers. The facility either invests through impact funds – enabling it to reach out lower-maturity investees, via financial institutions such as microfinance institutions – or directly in SMEs and producer organisations.

Outline of business models

  • FP

Funding of local financing services (e.g. Microfinance institutions) in direct contact with smallholder farmers & providing them financing solutions for their pre-harvest and CAPEX financial needs.

  • Fund

    Fund

Empowering existing impact investing funds with clear development impact on smallholder farmers, by enabling them to invest in their land to raise crop yields, improve quality and get a fair return

  • OSP
